To support access to Acthar, we established a highly effective insurance reimbursement support program focused on helping patients, parents and caregivers work with their insurance company so treatment can be started immediately when necessary. This initiative is part of the Acthar Support & Access Program (A.S.A.P.). It is a resource staffed with knowledgeable specialists who help by providing reimbursement support, patient assistance and access programs and medication shipment tracking at no cost.
Some quick facts:
- 96% of patients with infantile spasms have had Acthar paid for by their insurance company (including Medicaid programs); the other 5% have received Acthar at no cost through Questcor’s Patient Assistance Program. Patients with other conditions for which Acthar is approved have coverage rates in the range of 82-90%
- More than $250 million of Acthar at no cost has been given away*
- On average, most patient copayments have been less than $50; if a patient is unable to afford a copay, no matter how big or small, 100% coverage of the copay cost is also available through our copay assistance program for qualified patients*
Hospital Sample Vial Program
Finally, to relieve children’s hospitals of financial burden and to ensure immediate access to Acthar for children suffering from infantile spasms who are hospitalized, we initiated a new program to provide vials at no cost of Acthar to hospitals for inpatient use. This program has so far provided over $14 million worth of Acthar at no cost to participating children's hospitals.*
