Although the individual will report into R&D at the Ellicott City office, we will consider individuals who would be home based outside of Maryland.
Scientist/Sr. ScientistPharmacology
Location: Ellicott City, MD
Reports to: Director, Pharmacology
The individual will be part of the Research and Development Group (R&D), which is responsible for all FDA related preclinical and clinical research, including drug discovery and development and Phase 4 research and non-FDA company sponsored research.
- Work to meet the corporate and R&D goals
- Collaborate with members of other groups in the company (e.g., Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, Pharmaceutical Development, Sales/Marketing) to achieve corporate goals
- Be knowledgeable of recent and past pharmacology and pathophysiology research for assigned teams
- Contribute to study design, monitoring, data analysis, and interpretation efforts to determine the pharmacology of marketed and discovery and development state compounds
- Work with sales/marketing and MSLs to provide key review and feedback for pharmacology of marketed drugs
- Responsible for tasks as assigned by supervisor
Education and Experience Required:
- Ph.D. and 1-3 year post-doctoral or industry experience performing preclinical pharmacological research in a field of immunology, neuroscience, and nephrology non-clinical research
- Experience interacting and collaborating with other scientists across different scientific disciplines matched with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively multitask, manage and meet deadlines
- Proven ability to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and difficult complexity
- Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet software, E-mail, and preferably GraphPad Prism
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience working in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
- Basic understanding of pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism
- Experience working in a collaborative environment on product development teams
- Background knowledge of neuropeptide pharmacology and GPCR function and signaling
- Experience writing, reviewing and editing protocols and study reports
- Experience using GraphPad prism to model and analyze pharmacological data generated using varied in vitro and in vivo preclinical models
